Senna is commonly known as 'sonamukhi' in India and its botanical name is cassia augustifolia. Senna plants grow in the tropical climate in the desert areas of Westren & Southern India. In India, only Rajasthan state is the major producer of seena leaves. These are plucked, dried and pulverized into a fine powder and got automatic machine to packed in different modern, durable consumer packing. Senna is recognised by Unani, British and US pharmacopoeias. It is useful in excellent laxative products (habitual costiveness). It is useful treatment of febrifuge, in splenic enlargements, anemia, typhoid, chlorea, biliousness and bronchitis lowers bowels, increases peristaltic movements of the colon by its local action upon the intestinal wall.
