German chamomile essential oil is also known as Blue Chamomile or Chamomile matricaria. The beautiful blue color is from azulene which is formed during the distillation of the oil. The odor is sweet and adds a warm, long-lasting undertone in perfumes. Blue Chamomile oil is an excellent anti-inflammatory, valuable for menstrual problems, skin rashes, acne, eczema, arthritis and muscular aches and pains.

Chamomile essential oil is commonly used in massage oils and herbal mixtures and is gentle enough for children. Traditional use: muscle relaxant, soothing agent, skin conditioner.

For burns or skin inflammation, traditional use suggests applying 1 or 2 drops of German Chamomile to the affected area. A few drops may be added to a glass of water and taken internally for gastrointestinal upset. For nervous tension or mild shock, rub a few drops into the solar plexu.
