Flame Arrestors

Our high quality Flame Arrestors are corrugated plate type assuring a positive flame stop, increased capacity, ease of inspection and low maintenance cost for use on storage tanks containing volatile petroleum products.

Construction:

Our flame arrestors are designed to inhibit flame propagation in gas piping systems. These arrestors are usually installed either horizontally or vertically in gas lines, where fire protection is required. The standard unit consist of a heavy cast aluminium housing, which contains a removable multi-plate arresting bank. Plates in the flame arresting bank are made of stainless steel 304, 316.

Frame arresting bank assembly:

Retractable type, spiral type stainless steel 304, 316 and various others. Other exotic metals that are compatible with body material can be provided.

• Body: Cast steel, aluminium, stainless steel, 304, 316, alloy 20, hastelloy b, c.
• Flame arresting bank assembly: Retractable type, aluminium, stainless steel 304, 316

Operating principle & design:

Ignited vapor (gas) attempting to pass through a flame arrestor becomes extinguished by action of the grids in the bank assembly absorbing heat from the flame faster than it is developed thereby lowering the temperature of the flame below its ignition point. It is important to keep the grids clean to prevent loss of grid efficiency at absorbing heat. Net free area through the grid is approximately three to four times the corresponding pipe size.
